Tune-Ups

Amplifiers typically need a tune-up once a year, more often if you're a gigging musician. My tune-up jobs include:

  • Testing all tubes

  • Cleaning and lubricating potentiometers (knobs)

  • Inspecting all jacks

  • Testing high voltage filter capacitors to make sure they aren't leaking DC

  • Cleaning all tube sockets

  • Performing a general cleaning of all accumulated dust, dirt, and grime

  • Inspecting of all components for loose connections or poor solder joints

If It Has a Tube, I'm Your Dude

I have worked on and am familiar with the brands below. If you have something that isn't on this list, bring her in anyway. I will never charge a dime for something I am unable to fix.

Alamo, Airline, Danelectro, Epiphone, Fender, Gibson, Gretsch, Harmony, Hiwatt, Kay, Lyric, Magnatone, Marshall, Matamp, Matchless, Morgan, Musicman, National, Orange, Sano, Silvertone, Sound City, Sunn, Supro, Traynor, Valco, Vox

Amps In Need of Some Love

There are dozens of reasons your amplifier may be on the fritz. I offer a thorough diagnosis for a reasonable bench fee, which can be applied to your total bill. Nothing is due up front and a break down and estimate will be provided to you before any repair work is started or parts are ordered.

Modernization & Restoration

Vintage amplifiers are my pride and joy. I specialize in bringing old amplifiers up to date to make them safe for use. Some vintage amplifiers have a two-prong power cord, making them very unsafe. With these, I'll remove the death cap and ground the chassis so you will never get shocked. Those dried up electrolytic capacitors will need to be replaced as they are most likely well past their usable life. I will also check your coupling capacitors in between tube gain stages to make sure no DC is being leaked. Lastly, I will measure your resistors to make sure they haven't drifted too far off value. A tune-up will be included in any modification or restoration job.
